THE HARLEY STREET CLINIC

THE DEPARTMENT OF RADIATION PHYSICS

MEDICAL PHYSICS ENGINEER

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated person who will fill the role of a lone electronics engineer in the new Oncology Unit .

The Radiotherapy facility comprises a Varian 2100cd multi-modality linear accelerator with electronic portal imaging and a 600c 6 MV linear accelerator, both furnished with multileaf collimators and enhanced dynamic wedges. A Therapax 300 provides superficial and orthovoltage X rays. A state of the art Verification, Imaging and Scheduling system (Varis) links the accelerators with a Varian CX Simulator with Ximavision capabilities. A new IGE CT scanner is linked to two Cadplan workstations in the Radiotherapy Department and the Radiation Physics Department respectively.

Radiation Physics provides treatment planning, dosimetry, quality assurance, development and radiation protection. The service is being extended to support Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology. Prostate Brachytherapy is supported at the Princess Grace Hospital and will soon be available at The Harley Street Clinic too.

You would join a dedicated and friendly team of physicists and dosimetrists and contribute to the overall quality assurance programme in Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology.

The successful candidate would need to be flexible in approaching a range of problems from the trivial to the complex. He/she will be the interface with the linac and X ray companies and will provide a first line maintenance role to supplement existing maintenance agreements.

It is intended that the person appointed sets up an electronics laboratory and works towards reducing the cost of maintenance contracts.

The Harley Street Clinic is situated in a premier location in London close to the Marylebone High Street Village, 5 minutes walk to Oxford Street and within easy access of five underground stations.

Remuneration will depend on experience, qualifications and ability. This is a key post for our facility and the right person will find the work interesting and will be duly rewarded.
